Devlog: It’s over, it’s done edition.

Well, here we are. About 12 weeks have passed since we set out on this adventure, and we finally caught up with the seemingly endless horizon. We had arguments and shared laughs, created a tidal wave of polygons and kilometers worth if noodles in blueprinting. All that effort leading up to this final build.

Today we finalized our game, while small changes may still happen over the next week this is the final product we’ve been working towards, and I’m incredibly proud of our team effort. We got rid of must of the jank you could have encountered in the pre-polish build.

We created custom UCX collisions were needed to make sure a player would no longer get stuck behind objects while navigating the ship. We also doubled the gravity making the whole game a lot less floaty and just more comfortable to control in general. We added sounds, optimized our particles for a better framerate and polished the object interactions.

For these interactions we improved the way you pick up objects a lot, and gave the object you are about to interact with an outline. We also improved the timing on the animations making it all seem a lot more fluent.

Further we polished the texture for the water a bit more and the material itself a lot, The tutorial parrot will also no longer have a little bar with text, but gets a proper piece of parchment now including its own little animation.

Then there is a couple of fixes in the menu were you now will find an accommodating volume slider for our brand-new sounds. You will also find a credit screen, were you will see my name and the once of the fine people I work with.

With that I believe we covered most of our efforts. I’d like to take this last opportunity to thank my team for their efforts, it was great working with all of you and you should all be proud of your work. Next is our teachers, Thanks guys! Please give us decent grades. Then last but never least, thank you everyone who gave us feedback during our process, you all know who you are.

If you have any more feedback on this last build, still let us know, as we may still do some fixes over the next week.
